To provide sufficient talent crucial to the success of ongoing financial reforms, Qingdao has built partnerships with a number of financial academies and think tanks over the past two years.
At the end of 2014, the Qingdao government signed a cooperation agreement with the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics to build the SUFE Qingdao Wealth Management Research Academy.
Since the academy opened on Jan 19, it has made a number of achievements, including the establishment of a financial master's degree program, the SUFE-Berkeley global financial master's degree program and the Financier and Wealth Management Club.
In March 2015, the China Finance 40 Forum, a leading financial think tank, signed an agreement with the Qingdao government to build a financial academy in Qingdao.
The academy will focus on doctorate and master's degree programs in its devotion to studying financial theory, wealth management, innovative finance, financial supervision and industrial practices.
Wealth management has become a priority for the city.
The city government of Qingdao is partnering with Shandong University to build a wealth management program.
The Shandong Wealth Management Research Academy in Qingdao is dedicated to financial product innovation and corporate finance research.
The city has also hosted a string of events highlighting the "Fortune Qingdao" brand, including the 2014 Jinjialing Fortune Forum, the Qilu Summit, a wealth management expo, a high-end securities talent training course and a dozen or so wealth-management workshops.
On June 20, 2015, the Qingdao China Fortune Forum brought together financial experts and government regulators to discuss global economic trends, the layout of global wealth, the transformation of the financial services industry, the internationalization of the renminbi, cross-border wealth management and the real economy.
