The curtain closed on the fifth National Art Performance for Primary and Middle School Students on April 16, which took place Qingdao, Shandong province.
The six-day event attracted more than 7,100 students from throughout the country, who gathered to show off their artistic talents, performing many shows including the opening and closing ceremonies, featuring vocal and instrumental music, dance, drama and recitation.

The event was organized by Ministry of Education and Qingdao Municipal People's Government.
Hao Ping, China's Vice-Education Minister, Li Qun, Party Chief of Qingdao, and Wang Suilian, Vice-Governor of Shandong province attended the closing and awards ceremony.
During the event, a workshop specially established to demonstrate students’ art skills and works which attracted more than 50,000 students, teachers and local residents.
Organizers also hosted a number of symposiums, focusing on arts and education.
As a triennial event, the National Art Performance for Primary and Middle School Students is the highest-level of its kind in China. The previous four sessions were held in Beijng, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Xiamen, respectively.
The sixth event will be held in Suzhou, Jiangsu province in 2019.
