Efforts have been made to inherit and develop 31 key projects about traditional Qilu culture, including Confucius museum and Mountain Ni Holy Land, according to a press conference held in Jinan, Shandong province on March 31.

Shandong has launched a project to build Qufu City as a demonstration zone for inheriting traditional culture, to promote the integration development of two cities of Qufu and Zoucheng, further constructing an area where traditional Chinese culture is developed.

Shandong has taken practical efforts to make innovations in inheriting traditional Qilu culture since 2015. A total of seven categories of such projects have been under implementation.

Wang Hongyong, deputy director of the Publicity Department of Shandong Provincial Party Committee, said the three construction projects are still in a basic stage and going on smoothly.

"Building demonstration zone is supported by Qufu and Zoucheng. The two cities have the same the goals such as to construct the 'Hometown of Confucius and Mencius and Cultural Shrine', the 'Educational Base of Inheriting Chinese Culture' and the 'Group Protected Park of great sites'",added Wang.

Qufu is the hometown of ancient Chinese thinker of Confucius. Zoucheng is the hometown of China's great philosopher Mencius.
