Qingdao brushes up on Russian oil paintings
Qingdao Publishing Group has performed a stroke of genius in inviting 12 of Russia's best contemporary oil painters to exhibit their works in the sailing city.
The 2016 Russian Oil Painting Exhibition, held at the city art gallery of Qingdao Publishing Group from Sept 28 to 30, and the Publishing Art Gallery from Oct 15 to 21, feature some 100 oil paintings depicting a rich array of subjects from landscapes, still life, and portraiture.
The exhibition forms a key part of Qingdao Publishing Group's plans to expand its art galleries and attract artists and art work from across the globe.
The Russian exhibit embodies the tenets of Peredvizhniki, or Wanderers, an artistic movement first applied by Russian artists in the mid-19th century, extolling beauty from hardship.
The exhibition is jointly sponsored by the Qingdao Publishing Group and Qingdao bureau of culture, broadcasting, television, press and publication.
