Qingdao Symphony Orchestra performs in Chile
The Qingdao Symphony Orchestra gave three concerts in the Chilean cities of Santiago, Valparaiso and Lancagua between Oct 31 and Nov 3 as part of a cultural event celebrating the 2016 China-Latin America Cultural Exchange Year.
This was the first visit to Chile by a Chinese symphony orchestra, attracting an audience of nearly 3,000 during Chile’s holiday time. The orchestra received widespread acclaim for its superb performance and expert skills.
Qingdao Symphony Orchestra featured famed performers for the Chile performances, including well-known conductor Zhang Guoyong, famous violinist Lv Siqing and soprano Song Yuanming, staging classic Chinese works such as the fantasia from Farewell My Concubine, a Peking Opera excerpt from The Drunken Beauty, and a collection of Northeast China folk ditties.
