The Chinese Culture Ministry's "Happy Chinese New Year" program is an annual global activity held since 2001 in celebration of the traditional Chinese Spring Festival. Last year over 2,100 cultural activities were hosted in over 400 cities across more than 140 countries and regions. People around the world had a chance to encounter traditional Chinese culture through the events.

As one of the major organizers of the 2017 Happy Chinese New Year project, the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture has launched ten cultural exchange events with 131 participating members, to be held over three months, promoting Chinese New Year culture and the unique Qilu culture to different parts of the world.

The exhibition "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou", with about 50 pieces of the Yangzhou School of Painting selected by the Shandong Museum, is being held at the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum in Kaohsiung, Taiwan until March 1.

The Yangzhou School refers to a group of professional artists who were prolific in the Yangzhou area from the mid Kangxi to the late Qianlong reigns. They stirred the oppressive waters of the traditional Chinese painting world and opened both the minds and eyes of future artists who brought this movement to a greater height of development.

The exhibition will help to expand Shandong-Taiwan cultural and academic contacts and exchanges, as well as promote Chinese culture.
