German photographers beguiled by quaint Qufu
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the friendship between East China's Shandong province and the German state of Bavaria, a group of photographers with members from both areas traveled to Qufu, the hometown of Confucius, on May 16 to record special memories of the city.
Wolfgang Elster, vice president of the Bavarian Photographers Association, and Alexander Preyer, member of the Bavarian Photographers Association, accompanied by Hou Heliang, honorary president of the Shandong Photographers Association, visited Qufu's famous cultural relic sites such as the Confucian Mansion, Confucian Temple and the Cemetery of the Confucian Family as well as the pristine Hulutao village.
More people around the world will see Qufu's culture and beauty and the real life of local people through the lenses of the German photographers.
The Temple of Confucius, together with the Confucian Mansion, where Confucius' descendants lived, and the Cemetery of the Confucian Family were named UNESCO World Heritages in 1994.
