Shandong Cultural Consumption Season wraps up

The curtain came down on the arts and culture extravaganza of the First Shandong Cultural Consumption Season on Oct 31 in Jinan, Shandong province, with a large symphony concert taking stage during the closing ceremony.

Organized by the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture, the event was scheduled with six sections of activities that had been carried out both online and offline in the province's 17 cities to enrich residents' lives and motivate development of the regional cultural industry.

According to the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture, the event opened on July 20 and lasted for 100 days, during which nearly 5,000 cultural activities were carried out, bringing a feast of culture with different forms for Shandong residents.

According to incomplete statistics, the cultural consumption season attracted 133 million people to participate, bringing in a total consumption of 20.67 billion yuan ($3.13 billion).

Various cultural performances were held across the province, including movies and television plays, traditional Chinese operas, concerts and acrobatic performances.

A total of 22 drama performances by renowned national and international theaters were staged to mark the province's first international small theater festival.

A series of cultural and creative activities also took place such as cultural and creative products exhibitions, cultural and creative fairs, the first urban tourism creative design competition, Shandong provincial cultural and creative products design competition and the animation creative design competition.

Three cultural service systems have been launched during the cultural consumption season, containing the distribution of preferential cards and electronic coupons, an online ticketing system as well as an information service platform offering big data analysis for the development of the industry.

More than 680 enterprises and 2,100 retailers joined the cultural festivity, serving as offline platforms to carry out cultural activities.
