Cultural gala promotes exchanges
With upbeat folk music, festive dances and dazzling acrobatic performances, the Gala Performance from the Hometown of Confucius – Shandong was staged on Nov 19 at the Nepal Army Officers' Club Auditorium in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal.
The event was jointly organized by the China Culture Center in Nepal and the Shandong provincial department of culture. It was attended by staff members from the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, guests from government departments and cultural circles of Shandong and Nepal, representatives of Chinese-founded enterprises and students of Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University.
The orchestrated performance, including 11 shows, was presented by artists from the Shandong Song and Dance Theatre and the Shandong Acrobatic Troupe, giving the Nepalese audience a taste of traditional Chinese culture.
Ji Xiangqi, vice governor of Shandong province, said that the gala was saluted warmly by local people and helped promote cultural exchanges between Shandong and Nepal.
Ji expressed his hope that Shandong and Nepal will deepen mutual understanding, expand cooperation and exchange ideas and promote bilateral relations.
Yu Hong, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, said that the cultural exchange between Shandong and Nepal is of great significance since Shandong is the birthplace of Confucius while Nepal is the cradle of Buddha.
