Qufu wins national arts subsidy
A large-scale art project produced by a Qufu-based cultural enterprise has been selected in the 2018 China National Arts Fund.
The art performance, Jin Sheng Yu Zhen, based on the concept of "Confucius of the world" and "the world of Confucius", combines Chinese ancient art forms such as poetry, music and dance with contemporary art and theatrical designs to elaborate the life of Confucius and his great thoughts.
Qufu, a county-level city in East China's Shandong province, was the birthplace of Confucius, the great philosopher and educator of the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC).
Sha Xiaolan acts as general art consultant of the performance. Sha is a well-established stage artist who took part in many vital performances. He was the stage design team leader of the Beijing's eight-minute show at the closing ceremony of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, and the chief lighting designer of 2008 Beijing Olympics opening and closing ceremonies.
