Kite festival to take off in Weifang
The 35th International Kite Festival will kick off on April 21 at the International Kite Flying Field in Binhai district of Weifang, Shandong province.
According to a news conference convened by the festival organizing committee on March 14, more than 40 activities covering kite flying competitions, exhibitions, artistic performances and economic and trade events will take place during the annual festival.
The International Kite Championship Contest will open a week prior to the festival at the sub-venue of Fuyan Mountain International Kite Flying Field in Weifang. 101 teams from across the country will take part in the contest, during which, 1,056 kites with unique features will put on a superb performance.
The kite festival, jointly organized by the General Administration of Sports of China, the International Kite Federation and Weifang government, has been held annually in the city of Weifang since 1984.
