Olympic art exhibition opens at Shandong Art Museum
The Olympic Art Fair City Series Exhibition opened at the Shandong Art Museum in Jinan, Shandong province on April 28.
It is the first stop for the five-year "Cheer for the Olympics" series of exhibitions which aims at carrying forward traditional cultures and arts with Chinese characteristics and promoting the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
The exhibition is an innovative cultural and athletic event authorized by the International Olympic Committee (ICO). It aims at combining Chinese and Olympic culture and promoting the Beijing 2022 games including the Paralympic Games throughout the five years from 2018 to 2022.
With the opportunity offered by the Olympic stage, the exhibition uses the pluralistic and international elements of athletic culture as a platform to express China's magnificent culture and art to the world.
Zhang Guilin, vice director of the Shandong provincial department of culture, said that Shandong, the first stop in the exhibition series, will help to disseminate the "faster, higher, and stronger" motto of the Olympics through this exhibition.
Zhang Wang, curator of the Shandong Art Museum, said that the exhibition series integrates art and sport, demonstrates the broad realm and virtuosity of art and sport, and perfectly presents our eternal longing for peace, unity, beauty and health.
He added that it was great honor for his museum to host the grand event of athletic art, which will further narrow the distance between the public and the Olympics and promote the Olympic spirit and value.
