Best places in Tai'an to enjoy beauty of ginkgo trees
As late autumn comes upon us, the season to admire the golden ginkgo tree also comes. Tai'an in East China's Shandong province, with its time-honored history and profound cultural deposits, has plenty of places to appreciate the splendor of the ginkgo trees.
1. Yuquan Temple
Yuquan Temple, located on Mount Tai and with a history of more than 1,400 years, was initially built in the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534) and is one of the most famous temples on Mount Tai. It was deserted in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and was rebuilt by the Mount Tai management authorities in 1993.
The two ginkgo trees in Yuquan Temple, with an age of more than 1,300 years old, are the oldest of all the ginkgo trees of Mount Tai. The two trees, some 40 meters in height and 7 meters in girth, attract many tourists when turning golden in the autumn.
