An award ceremony for the photography competition of the Shandong Cultural Consumption Season was held on Nov 19 in Jinan, capital of Shandong province.

A total of 100 photographic works stood out from more than 1,400 entries and won different levels of awards. The winning photographs were also exhibited at the Shandong Provincial Cultural Center.

Organized by the Shandong provincial department of culture and tourism, the competition opened in October 2017, collecting photographic works capturing splendid moments during the Shandong Cultural Consumption Season.

Usually lasting from July to October, the annual cultural consumption season is an art and cultural extravaganza with hundreds of activities to boost the local cultural industry's development, foster cultural consumption amongst local residents and drive growth in the local economy.

"The entries record wonderful moments during our daily lives which are captivating and uplifting and through photographers' lens we can picture the stories," said Hou Heliang, leader of the competition review team and honorary president of Shandong Photographers Association.

"The competition offers a platform for shutterbugs and photojournalists to showcase photographs and helps to expand the influence of the cultural consumption season," said Li Xiaolong, an award-winning photographer.
