Jinan sees robust tourism consumption during Spring Festival holiday

Jinan, capital city of Shandong province, saw robust tourism consumption during the Spring Festival holiday, the latest figure show.

According to Jinan municipal statistics bureau, the city received a total of 3.57 million tourists during the seven-day holiday, a year-on-year increase of 11.8 percent. More than 3.52 billion yuan ($520.2 million) was spent by tourists to the city, up 14.2 percent year-on-year.

Jinan, the city of springs, is home to numerous spring and weeping willows, leading to some rather distinct scenery particular to the city. The city is making efforts to develop all-for-one tourism and build a tourism brand for springs in the city.

During the holiday, Qianfo Mountain Scenic Area Scenic Spot hosted temple fairs with excellent folk performances. The Baimai Spring Scenic Area launched shows featuring paper-cutting and dough modeling for visitors to sample Chinese traditional culture.

The Baotu Spring Lantern Festival became a significant highlight for tourists where more than 40 sets of splendid lanterns were offered to add festive atmosphere.

Rural tourism has also proved to be a hit to tourists during the holiday, with one and two-day tours featuring fruit picking, hot springs and mountain climbing taking place in the area. Laiwu district has launched fruit-picking activities, folk performances and delicacies for visitors.

Additionally, skiing and hot springs were still popular in the holiday. Jinxiang Mountain Ski Resort launched a New Year Party allowing visitors to participate in exciting projects such as family adventures, snow hunting and campfire parties.

Shanghe Hot Spring Spot took the opportunity of the 3rd China Self-driving Hot Spring Festival and received more than 10,000 visitors in seven days, up 15 percent of year-on-year growth.
