More than 60 foreign artists gathered in the Licang Theater in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province on Feb 25 to learn and experience the Peking Opera culture, which was part of a Chinese-foreign culture and art exchange activity.

The artists, from Mexico, Spain, Russia, Uzbekistan and other countries, are performers of the SCO Qingdao Summit artistic show called "Friends coming from afar".

Maters from the Qingdao Peking Opera Theatre detailed the development history, singing style and characteristics of Peking Opera and also performed passages from classic repertoire.

Peking Opera, or jingju, has a history of more than 200 years, and in 2010 UNESCO declared it an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
