Pingyin county, famed for its Chinese roses, is poised to welcome dealers of rose-related products from across the world for the 2019 China Rose Products Expo and the China Rose Culture Festival from May 10 to 12.

Pingyin, a county in Jinan, East China's Shandong province, has earned a reputation in China as the heart and soul of rose-breeding. Its history of rose cultivation can be traced back over 1,300 years.

Researchers have said that Pingyin's roses are superior to ordinary roses in terms of oil content, aroma and purity owing to the region's unique geographical and geological conditions.

Jointly hosted by the China National Forestry Industry Association, Department of Natural Resources of Shandong province and Pinyin county government, the expo has developed into a national convention for rose producers.

This year's event will set up eight areas for overseas rose products, processing equipment, art works and featured Pingyin agricultural products.

Hundreds of renowned rose production companies from major rose planting areas will gather in the county to display their rose products and seek international cooperation.

Pingyin county was approved as the permanent site of the expo in 2018.

Accordingly, the planting area of Chinese roses in the county has reached more than 4,000 hectares and its annual output of rose flowers (buds) has surpassed 20,000 tons. There are also over 130 varieties of rose-related products, including tea, wine, cosmetics and oil.

To date, the quality and output of Pingyin rose oil ranks first in China and enjoys a strong reputation in the domestic and foreign markets.
