Jinan tea industry expo sees fruitful results
The five-day China (Jinan) International Tea Industry Expo and Tea Culture Festival came to an end in Jinan, East China's Shandong province on May 27, with around 400 million yuan ($59.7 million) in deals agreed.
The expo set up a total of 2,600 booths at the Jinan International Exhibition Center and Jinan Tea Wholesale Market and attracted more than 1,800 companies from across China.
Officials from Shexian county in Anhui province, Quzhou in Zhejiang province, Wulong district of Chongqing city and Guzhang county in Hunan province also took part. The organizer also invited some visitors from the United States, France and Mexico to sample Chinese tea.
The event is meant to serve as a platform for tea enterprises across the country to display their featured products and seek exchanges and cooperation opportunities.
The exhibits at the expo covered various species of famous teas ranging from pu'er, black, white and green tea to flower tea. Tea-related handcrafts were on display as well, such as ceramics, tea ware and tea sets.
Additionally, this year's event also hosted a tasting tea activity where guests had the chance to taste tea made by spring water. It also held a tea art master contest for visitors to get to know tea culture.
The number of participants and exhibitors to this year's expo reached more than 100,000, a record high.
