An education delegation from Tauranga city of New Zealand paid a visit to Yantai in Shandong province from October 29 to 31, 2014.
Led by Allan Hampton, head of Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, and Ed Weymes, vice-head of the University of Waikato, the delegation aimed to promote cooperation between the two universities and the Yantai University, and discuss the possibility of cooperation between Yantai enterprises and the two universities.
During their visit, the delegation held talks with Yantai University to discuss academic programs. The delegation also visited Shandong Shulang Clothing Corp and Yantai Qiyuan Clothing Co and reached a preliminary agreement on exchanging designers.
Yantai established the sister city relationship with Tauranga in 1986. In March 2014, when the delegation from Tauranga visited Yantai, Yantai University signed a cooperative agreement with the two New Zealand-based universities. Both sides agreed that students majoring in international business at Yantai University could receieve further education in the two foreign universities.
