2011-2015 Plan for the Development of Yantai's Wine Industry

According to a 2011-2015 plan for Yantai's wine industry development, a 500,000-mu (33,333.33 hectares) wine grape base will be built by 2015, and wine output is expected to reach 500,000 kiloliters. The sales revenue and profits will exceed 40 billion yuan ($6.39 billion) and 10 billion yuan, respectively.
Local government will exert great efforts to build a famous coastal production facility for top-quality wine grapes and upgrade local wine brand in China and abroad.
A total of 20 well-known wine brands will be built. Yantai will strive to establish high-end and fashionable wine brands in the global market, turning itself into a headquarters for wine brands and a attractive wine city.
Yantai plans to build a cluster of chateaus featuring grape growing, wine making, leisure tourism and cultural promotion. Yantai will build a 100-km grape coast corridor along the coastline and highways, a 100-km grape sightseeing area, a 600,000-mu grape base, and 20 chateaus to promote e grape industry and leisure tourism development.
In addition, a wine culture plaza, wine shopping zones, wine sightseeing streets, and an expo center for wine culture will be built in Yantai. Those projects will help local wine tourism, wine vocational education, supporting industry and wine trade thrive.
