Yantai and South Korea enhance cooperation on maritime safety

A South Korean vessel arrived at Yantai Port, Shandong province, on Sept 16, with a delegation of South Korea Coast Guard to conduct a four-day visit in Yantai,said an official.
The officer also informed that the delegation will visit the Yantai Maritime Safety Administration, Yantai Vessel Traffic Service Center and the Oil Spill Prevention and Response Center. It will also communicate with Shandong maritime authorities on maritime rescue to strengthen the Sino-South Korean cooperation on maritime safety and rescue.
In 2007, China and South Korea had signed an agreement on maritime rescue. Besides, Shandong maritime authority and South Korean Coast Guard had also signed an agreement on maritime rescue in 2011. Since then, the two sides hold a communication meeting and a maritime rescue drill each year to improve the maritime safety of both sides.
