The Chinese paper-cutting artist, Zhu Manhua, met with a group of journalists from South Korea on June 25, at her paper-cutting art museum, to give a demonstration of the unique Chinese craft.

The reporters were in the city taking part in the "Discover Yantai" media tour, to explore the latest developments in the city.

Zhu Manhua, 71, was born to a family of Chinese paper-cutters. Her mother and grandmother were both involved in the craft, teaching Zhu make her first work when she was just six years old.

In addition to traditional patterns, Zhu has made thousands of creations based on a variety of iconic Chinese themes, ranging from ancient Chinese novels to modern and historic events.

Zhu demonstrated the skill to the visiting journalists, as well as teaching them some of the craft's traditional techniques.

The artist also gave the guests a glimpse of her masterpiece that is the "Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival" which took almost her a whole year to complete.

This is the first time that the work has been on display for the public and was highly praised by the journalists present.
