Yantai forum pushes for low carbon development

The 2021 Carbon Emission Peak and Carbon Neutrality Yantai Forum opened in East China's coastal city of Yantai, Shandong province on Oct 19.
The event gathered energy industry experts, academicians, and representatives from institutions, universities, and enterprises where they discussed the carbon trading market, hydrogen and energy storage, high-end equipment manufacturing, low-carbon city construction, comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy, nuclear technology, and offshore wind power topics.
Zheng Deyan, mayor of Yantai, said at the conference that "Yantai is a leading national low-carbon pilot city and has a solid foundation, development and utilization of clean energy."
"The city will strive to build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system, deepen industrial restructuring, and promote all-round green transformation alongside economic and social development," Zheng added.
A series of sub-forums were also held during the three-day event including the 2021 China International Nuclear Power Industry and Equipment Exhibition, the 2021 China (Yantai) Nuclear Energy Safety and Nuclear Power Industry Chain Summit Forum, and the 2021 China (Yantai) Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Energy Equipment Exposition.
During the event, Yantai signed cooperation agreements with the China National Nuclear Corporation, the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, the China General Nuclear Power Corporation, the China Energy Engineering Corporation, and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co.
