The "Genghai No 1" marine ranch complex off the coast of Yantai, Shandong province entered harvest season in late October. A number of fish, including porgy, spotted knifejaw, and black tetra, were harvested from the smart cages. The output is expected to reach more than 2,500 kilograms this year.
In recent years, Yantai has been making strong efforts to develop a modern fishery industry, especially with its marine ranch projects. It is home to 18 national and 37 provincial marine ranches with a total area of 1.25 million mu (83,333.33 hectares).
Genghai No 1 is a large-scale fish farm that makes use of artificial intelligence, 5G and big data to achieve fish breeding, marine biology and research.
