The coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province witnessed a boom in the culture and tourism sector during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday from Jan 31 to Feb 6.
The city's culture and tourism bureau launched a wide range of online and offline activities to enrich cultural experiences for the city's residents. A total of 30 activities related to Spring Festival, the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, and Yantai's history and culture took place, offering a platform for visitors to enjoy the charm of traditional Chinese culture, and admire the beauty of Yantai's cultural legacy and intangible cultural heritages.
Yantai city is known as the "snow nest" of China due to the large amounts of snowfall it receives every year. The city has utilized its seasonal advantages to spur the development of winter sports and tourism.
Yantai also saw a tourism boom in its rural areas over the holiday. The culture and tourism bureau launched a number of activities including a farming event and parent-child entertainment activities, which have allowed more rural residents to benefit from tourism.
Consumption vouchers, tickets and discounts to cultural and tourism attractions have also been given to local residents. Changdao Island, which lies between the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, and is known for its clean sandy beaches and limestone cliffs, distributed free tickets to visitors. More than 30 A-level scenic spots in Yantai offered half-price discounts.
During the holiday, more than 270 online and offline activities were presented with the goal of promoting the transformation, expansion, and upgrading of Yantai's cultural and tourism consumption.
