The Jiading New District of Shanghai took home a "Best Practice 2013" award for its urban planning and implementation at a recent conference held by the Regional Knowledge Hub for Sustainable Urban Development, a organization of the Asian Development Bank and Shanghai’s Tongji University.
The meeting drew in senior urban planning officials from a dozen Asian countries, as well as Chinese and other foreign specialists, where they all recognized Jiading, a district that Shanghai has given priority to in the city’s 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15), as one that has really done well in urban planning, infrastructure, environmental and climate improvements, energy efficiency, expansion, and transportation.
