The town of Anting, which is under Shanghai’s Jiading district jurisdiction, has plans to move 15 enterprises with a poor record out to make room for 26.67 hectares of land for development.
A land-shortage is a perennial problem in places like Anting in making an effort to restructure and improve their industries.
In the last three to four years, the town has removed 115 energy-intense, low-capacity companies, which helped improve the industrial structure and save energy and cut emissions.
On example was the Shanghai Yaoji Playing Card Co, which replaced another company occupying lands in the town, in 2009, and now does 350 million yuan worth of business annually and has been listed.
