The first leg of the 2014 SCP Road Cycling Tour was held in the district of Jiading, Shanghai, on March 22.
The race was held by the district’s sports bureau, Shanghai’s Bicycle Association, and Shanghai Cycling Promotion (SCP), as more than 430 amateur bicycle racers from all over the world came to Jiading New City to take part in the race.
The competition in Jiading New City was divided into four classes: elite, advanced, common and female. The racing route began on Aksu Road, covered Yini Road, Yongsheng Road, Gaotai Road, Aksu Road, and ended back at Tianzhu Road.
Chinese competitors mostly came from three top international bicycle enterprises - Cannondale, Trek, and Specialized - and there were also cyclists from over 10 countries, including the United States, Britain, Australia and Canada.
The 2014 SCP Road Cycling Tour is the first annual competition organized by SCP after its establishment, and it was open to all amateur cyclists. There will be five games a year, and the competition in Jiading New City was the first stop. Competitors must complete all five games to enter the personal score rankings.
