Jiading official give guides on transport development

By Lin Hong ( chinadaily.com.cn ) 2014-04-09

Zhang Min, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Shanghai’s Jiading district, investigated public transport work when he visited the district’s transportation bureau on March 14.

After being given a brief on related work, he recognized the bureau’s performance in developing public transport and cracking down on illegal transport tools in recent years.

He noted that planning is crucial in constructing Jiading’s public transport network, and the planning work should involve connecting Jiading New City with other new towns. New methods, such as streetcars, could be considered, as the region’s economy and society develop. Zhang also required that governmental funds for public transport should be used efficiently, with the aim of increasing the social and economical benefits brought by public transport.
