China Mobile launches 4G services in Jiading district

China Mobile Communications Corporation Ltd, known as China Mobile, held a news conference on the commercial rollout of its fourth-generation mobile network service in Shanghai’s Jiading district at the Blue Palace Hotel on May 15.

The conference was organized by the Jiading branch of Shanghai Mobile, together with Jiading’s science and technology commission, with the theme of “Building a smart city and enjoying the 4G life”.

China Mobile will offer a full range of 4G services in Jiading by no later than 2015, and it has already 10,000 registered users and launched 200 base stations.

“We have installed the base stations as the foundation for 4G services and the total number is planned to reach 511 by the end of 2014,” said a source with Shanghai Mobile.

“At present, the base stations has covered some of Jiading’s urban areas, and partially covered towns of Jiangqiao, Malu, Anting and Nanxiang, as well as the Jiading Industrial Zone.”

At the same time, China Mobile Jiading branch promised to offer a variety of preferential packages to the public with a 30-percent discount compared to 3G network package deals. In terms of industry customers, the company also introduced business applications such as video surveillance and data uploading.

Based on the cooperation framework agreement with the Jiading government, China Mobile will bring 4G services to help in the construction work of the local community and transportation, education and medical treatment.
