TRW Automotive, the world’s largest auto safety parts supplier, launched its R&D center in Anting, Jiading District, on June 6.
Supported by the Jiading government, TRW launched a technical center project in Anting in 2011. The construction was finished in 2013. The new center, with an area of 66,000 square meters, will be equipped with 1,200 researchers, engineers and technicians.
It is the largest and most advanced technical center of TRW Group in the world and will provide various engineering services to domestic auto companies.
Gao Yun, chief of Jiading District and John Plant, president of TRW Auto Holding Corporation (TRW) attended the opening ceremony of TRW Automobile Research and Development (Shanghai) Co Ltd.
Gao Yun said TRW had enjoyed steady development in Jiading for the past 17 years. Jiading would continue to promote the upgrade of the auto industry and make efforts in developing safe, energy-saving and intelligent vehicles.
Gao expected TRW to further enhance its research abilities and improve the safety of Chinese automobile products, contributing to the development of the enterprise and regional economy.
TRW Auto Holding Corporation is the world’s largest supplier of auto safety technologies and parts and components, with a total turnover of 18 billion yuan ($2.88 billion) in 2013 in China.
