Jiading held a bamboo sculpture exhibition at its Bamboo Sculpture Museum on June 14 – the ninth Chinese Cultural Heritage Day, according to a local newspaper.
The exhibition displayed 30 bamboo sculptures and 13 other sculptures created by designer Wang Wei. His sculptures, which feature a wide range of subjects and different styles, demonstrated the exquisite craftsmanship of the artist.
As one of a number of celebration events this year, the exhibition was co-hosted by the Jiading Bamboo Sculpture Association and the Jiading Museum. It is hoped that the exhibition will make local residents closely enjoy the charm of bamboo sculpture while promoting its inheritance and development of the traditional art, said the organizers.
Jiading bamboo sculpture, a symbol of the local culture, has a history of over 400 years. In 2005, it was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage by the State Council.
