According to Ding Xiaohua, Deputy Manager of the New Energy Department of Shanghai International Automobile City, the ‘new electric vehicle rental model’ will also be promoted in addition to the traffic information board, intelligent parking guidance and intelligent public transport system.
The ‘New electronic vehicle rental model’ (i.e. ‘time-sharing model’ or ‘sharing’), a typical model of Jiading’s IOV integrated with both E-commerce and network, has aroused great interest by another local resident, Wang Shouting.
He downloaded an app called Evcard to his cell phone pursuant to a brief introduction, and booked a vehicle from the Auto Museum to the International Automobile City Tower via the app after completing information registration. He received a master inductive card after booking, and opened the door of an electric vehicle parked at the Auto Museum Station. He returned the vehicle at the Automobile City Tower, and made the payment by Taobao Alipay, credit card, Wechat and other methods. This is the whole car rental process.
‘The entire car rental process is completed via a network without a time limit as requested by users.’ According to Liu Wenjin, Manager of the New Energy Department of International Automobile City, the rental methods can be divided into ‘long-term rental service for enterprises’ and ‘time-sharing rental service’.
The first one serves enterprises, while the second one targets ordinary citizens. Most vehicles for rent will be Roewe E50, and the services will be officially promoted in October this year. The first batch of sites in Jiading includes Anting Culture and Sports Activity Center, Shanghai International Automobile City Tower and another 18 service sites.
‘The IOV created by Jiading, which is closely associated with big data, can identify areas with greater demand by analyzing statistical data, and thus make more reasonable decisions,’ said Ding Xiaohua For instance, a site will be set up at Bole Square due to the dense population in its surrounding areas, and sites will be set up near subway stations; Auchan hypermarket has got insufficient parking places, so the app data needs to be updated in real time.
Ding Xiaohua, who majored in science, likes to draw conclusions from the data. ‘Facilitating the travel of ordinary people by utilizing available resources and building a reasonable traffic information network is the objective of our IOV construction.’ Ding Xiaohua is fully confident about the prospect for construction and application of IOV in Jiading.
