China E-Commerce Annual Conference opens in Jiading

( chinadaily.com.cn ) 2015-01-29

The third China E-Commerce Annual Conference, organized by the e-commerce committee of China Association of Trade in Services and China E-Commerce Industrial Alliance, kicked off in Jiading Industrial Zone of Shanghai Jan 26 -27.

The event that focuses on such areas as mobile Internet, online to offline business and cross-border e-commerce, has brought together industry experts and a group of well-known entrepreneurs. They exchanged ideas on the latest developments in the industry and on innovation in business modes. They also discussed challenges and opportunities that the industry faces.

As a strategic partner of the event and a national demonstration base for e-commerce, Jiading Industrial Zone has made contributions to the e-commerce development in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta area. Early in 2007, the zone founded an e-commerce industrial park, which attracted nearly 1,000 e-commerce companies including Baidu, Jingdong, Vancl and Guomei. "Asia No 1", Jingdong's first warehouse and logistics center also opened in the zone last year.

Meanwhile, Jiading Industrial Zone is now renowned as an "e-commerce town" with a group of Internet financing companies setting up in the zone. The sales revenue of the e-commerce industry reached 41.6 billion yuan ($6.7 billion) in 2014, with an annual increase of 63.2 percent. Since the e-commerce took root in the zone eight years ago, it has transformed from an emerging industry to a pillar industry and become a new economic growth point of the zone.
