The China Stem Cell Group has chosen Jiading district in Shanghai as the site for its new blood disease hospital, planned to be the world's largest one.
The first phase of the project that will sit on a 60 mu (40,000 square meters) area has started the construction work, which is estimated to be completed in 2016 and put into service in 2017. The hospital, when finished, is planned to perform about 1,000 operations related to blood diseases and SCT (stem cell transplantation).
The hospital signed some cooperation agreements with several prominent medical institutions such as the Ruijin Hospital North affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University's School of Medicine, and the Institute of Hematology of Jiangsu Province, for technical support and academic exchange.
