Jiading will build a museum complex covering an overall area of about 50,000 square meters in southern area of the old town.
The museum complex will be located opposite to the Han Tianheng Art Museum and Nanshuiguan park, near the Jiading exit of Shanghai-Jiading Highway. The construction will start next year and the museum is expected to open in 2018.
According to preliminary design, the museum complex will consist of one park and two museums. The park will theme cultural relics and occupy an area of about 6.7 hectares. One museum will exhibit collections from top collectors from home and abroad, while the other will display works created by modern artists.
The museums will be divided into more than 30 exhibition halls with areas ranging from 500 sq m to 3,000 sq m to display different collectors’ items. Visitors can also enjoy works from world’s top artists.
It is expected that museum complex will not only help improve the cultural life of residents in the district, but also become a popular destination for visitors from the Yangtze River Delta area and even the whole country.
