With its characteristic landscape, Nanxiang town of Shanghai's Jiading district, made it to the list of the third batch of the national famous tourism town (village).
The list was jointly released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the National Tourism Administration, on July 13. Altogether 337 towns and villages have been selected for the title.

The activity was initiated in 2009 by the two national organs. It aims to develop rural tourism industries and preserve its original resources, such as the natural landscape and local cultural heritage.

Besides Nanxiang, three other villages of Shanghai were also declared the new tourism towns. They are Zhonghua and Jinshanzui fishing villages of Jinshan district as well as Yingdong of Chongming county.
So far, a total of 553 towns and villages all over the country have been named as the national famous tourist site, with six coming from Shanghai.our
