A delegation from the city of Tacoma, the United States led by its mayor Marilyn Strickland visited Jiading district of Shanghai on April 7, with the hope of strengthening mutual exchanges and cooperation, local media reported.
Ma Chunlei, Party chief of Jiading district welcomed the guests and exchanged ideas about the development of the two areas. Ma said that he is pleased to have this opportunity to exchange experience of city development with delegates from the US.

The Party chief mentioned that Jiading focuses on education, which is considered an important drive force for a city's development. Local government wants its citizens to get better education, so it invests more in education every year. Ma expected more exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, sports and economy between the two areas.
Marilyn Strickland said that the two areas share lots of similarities. The mayor also hoped to strengthen mutual cooperation in culture, education and economy.
