Jiading high school celebrates 90th anniversary

Jiading No. 1 High School of Shanghai had its 90th birthday on Oct 10.

More than 2,000 alumni, teachers, and students, as well as government leaders attended the celebration and reviewed the school's development and educational history.

Ma Chunlei, Party secretary of Jiading district, delivered a speech during the celebration and mentioned the importance of education and the local government's goal of developing quality education.

Ma also expected the school to make further improvements, the teachers to cultivate more excellent students, the students to study hard, and the alumni to give more support to their alma mater.

Some notable alumni such as Zhao Xicheng, chairman of Foremost Group, an international shipping company in New York, also expressed best wishes for the school.

At the celebration ceremony, the school's history museum was inaugurated, and the school was announced as a base of Tongji University's talent training project.

Jiading No. 1 High School, founded in 1926, is one of Shanghai's top high schools. Over the past nine decades, it has nurtured a great number of prominent students and made outstanding contributions to the country's educational environment.

Guyi Garden in Shanghai's Jiading district was recently rated as one of the 21 Shanghai digital scenic spots by the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, local media outlets reported on Jan 19.
