A State Council inspectorate focusing on rural migrant workers visited Jiading district of Shanghai on Dec 13 to inspect the district's work in employment services and rights protection for rural migrant workers.

The inspectorate, led by Yang Zhijin, vice minister of the Ministry of Culture, went to local employment service centers to learn details of the services offered.
According to the officials, the center has helped over 100,000 migrant workers find jobs and given job training to more than 266,000 job seekers since its opening in 2006.
The inspectorate also attended a meeting with local government leaders who introduced the district's progress in offering migrant workers employment services and protecting their rights.

The inspectorate talked as well with representatives of local migrant workers to learn what difficulties they encounter in work and life.
The inspectorate recognized Jiading's work concerning rural migrant workers, saying that the district's approaches are useful and innovative, and hoped local officials would do more to create a better work and living environment for the rural migrant workers.
