The Nanxiang Twin Pagodas are located in Jiading's Nanxiang town and date back to the Southern Dynasty (AD 420-589). The ancient pagodas are eight-sided, seven stories and 11 meters high. Completely built with bricks, they are finely crafted and imitate the famed wooden-structured towers that are found in South China.
They are of high artistic value and are useful to academic studies on ancient Chinese architecture, religion, and local history. The current pagodas have been renovated and based upon the original designs.
