The 2017 Summer Art Season opened in Anting town in Shanghai's Jiading district on June 24.

The three-month festival will feature more than 20 activities including art performances, competitions, and lectures.

At the opening ceremony, Ji Pingping, a ballerina, performed and gave a lecture about the development, dress, and dancing techniques of ballet.

Huang Xiaoyue, a local resident who has an eight-year-old daughter who loves ballet, said: "It is good for the child to listen to a professional ballet dancer teaching dancing techniques onsite. This will stimulate the child's stronger interest in learning ballet."
