Shanghai's Jiading District People's Court signed a cooperation agreement with the East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) on June 28.
According to the agreement, the two institutions will work together to support the modern city construction of Jiading and its ambition to become the core of Shanghai's scientific and technological innovation center.
They will build think tanks, share test results and regularly host symposiums and lectures together.
The Jiading District People's Court will also offer internships to a certain number of ECUPL students every year, helping to nurture more law professionals in the area.
Ma Chunlei, Party secretary of Jiading, attended the signing ceremony saying that Jiading is in a critical period of social and economic development, which requires a sound legal environment. Ma considers that the deal a combination of grass-roots legal resources and university legal theory, which will be helpful to solve difficult issues occurring during the process of Jiading's development.
The Party secretary vowed that Jiading will give full support to help the cooperation proceed smoothly.
During the signing ceremony, a comprehensive information management center for the Jiading District People's Court was inaugurated. The center will provide real-time statistics concerning the court's administrative, criminal and civil lawsuits, as well as legal services for the benefit of local citizens.
