A total of 93 Chinese and foreign artists have been invited to participate in a Belt and Road Initiative-themed international art exhibition that opened at Shanghai Wutong Art Museum in Jiading district on July 1.

Nearly 100 breathtaking art works are on display, covering a variety of art forms such as traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, oil painting, sculpture and block print.

The exhibition, a joint effort of Wutong Art Museum and the organizing committee initiating steps to an eco-culture Silk Road, is an attempt to help expand the reach of Chinese culture and art worldwide, in line with the country's global Belt and Road Initiative.

The "Silk Road steps to eco-culture" was a program initiated by China Eco-Culture Association to carry forward eco-culture and spread the essence of Chinese culture from May 2011 to December 2012.

The exhibition is themed on the idea of the "Borderless", and is expected to highlight that there are no border in the pursuit of art and art creation. Thus it intends to give visitors a better understanding of Chinese as well as foreign art.

"This exhibition not only serves as a platform of artists to exchange ideas, but also leads to a fusion between different art forms, cultures, and even between minds of artists and visitors," said Lin Yifeng, planner of the exhibition.

The exhibition runs until August 15, 2017.
