Chinese electric car start-up NextEV opened its second test center in Anting town, Jiading district, Shanghai recently.
The center will be used for testing and R&D for all the major parts used in the company's smart and electric vehicles, including batteries, drive motors, control systems, power management systems and charging facilities.
According to the company, NextEV has chosen to build two test centers in Anting due to the presence of Shanghai International Automobile City in the town, a major draw for auto-related enterprises.
NextEV expects to develop the center into world-leading R&D and test center for new energy and intelligent vehicles as well as smart transportation.
The center is composed of an office building and eight facilities housing 22 labs and workshops.
One of its highlights is a driving experience R&D lab equipped with a driving simulator, the only one of its kind in China and one of only five such systems worldwide.

The simulator consists of a variety of auxiliary facilities including a motion platform, a simulation system, and a visual system, allowing the company to perform "Drive in the Loop" vehicle performance evaluations and test various vehicle-mounted systems.
The facility will also contain an electronic and electric lab used for testing electronic auto parts conducting complete vehicle electronic functions tests, as well as an energy test center designed for testing a vehicle's energy systems.
Founded in 2014, NextEV aims to serve Chinese auto market. It has set up eight R&D and test centers in China, Germany, US, and UK. The company has been granted nearly 2,000 patents worldwide, and has 500 more patents pending.
