An exhibition displaying 290 photos started in Jiading district of Shanghai on Oct 13 as a celebration for the upcoming 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China is set to take place on Oct 18.

The photos are divided into five categories themed science and technology, auto industry, culture and education, health care, and Party building, showing the district's prosperous development over the past five years.

The goals set up for the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-15) have already been achieved, according to Jiading authorities.

For the next five years, the district will continue to focus on upgrading and transforming its industries, stepping up its city construction, giving better services to its citizens, and building a better official team.

It also aims to develop into a core area for Shanghai's International scientific and technological innovation center construction and a role model of future new cities.

The exhibition will end on Oct 26.
