A delegation from Waikato, New Zealand, led by chair of its regional council Alan Livingston visited Jiading district of Shanghai on Oct 25.

The delegates attended a meeting with Jiading officials, during which Dong Yiwen, deputy head of Jiading, introduced the guests to the district's economic and social development.

Dong said Jiading, famous for its history and culture, is also known for its scientific technology and auto industry. It is home to the Shanghai International Automobile City.

Dong hoped that the two cities can gain a better understanding of each other and build partnerships in automobile, education and other industries.

Alan Livingston said they are impressed by Jiading's achievements and also expected further exchanges and a strengthened friendship between the two areas so as to promote mutual development.

Waikato, located on the north island of New Zealand, is adjacent to Hauraki, one of Jiading's sister cities. The area also highlights its auto industry and has the largest autodrome in New Zealand. It also has rich educational resources, as it relies on the University of Waikato, a top-notch university in New Zealand.
