A 5G innovation development alliance of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region was founded at a summit in Jiading district, Shanghai, on Nov 29 in order to advance the development of the 5G industry.
The alliance, acting as a bridge connecting governments and enterprises in the YRD region, will concentrate on the establishment of policies and strategies for the development of 5G, the R&D of 5G technology, the promotion of 5G industrialization, academic exchanges and international cooperation.
Taking this summit as an opportunity, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Shanghai respectively demonstrated achievements they have made in the field of 5G and the internet of things.
More than 300 government officials, telecommunication company leaders, and experts attended the summit to share their views about the development of 5G technology.
Chen Mingbo, director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, stressed the importance of 5G to building an infrastructure for the internet of things, and advancing the integration of the internet, big data, artificial intelligence and the real economy, as well as supporting high quality development.
Chen also said that based on the existing agreements for 5G development in the YRD region, all parties will endeavor to develop the region into a pioneer of establishing a 5G mobile network, and to a build world-class information infrastructure in the region.
Shen Huadi, deputy head of Jiading, said that the district is striving to become a hotbed of innovative technology, a distributing center of innovative resources, and a transfer center of innovative achievements in the YRD region.
Shen also stressed that the district is committed to building a smart city as well as an open and cooperative industry ecosystem of the information and communication industries.
