The government of Jiading district and China's ride-hailing company, Didi Chuxing, signed an agreement to build Didi's auto innovation center on April 13.
The new center is designed to promote the development of new energy vehicles and automatic driving technologies while figuring out solutions to improving the city's smart transportation and reducing costs of the mass transit system.

With the help of Didi, Jiading will develop green travel using innovation and upgrading on bus transportation dispatch systems and routes.
As the international auto center of Shanghai, Jiading owns the best foundation for the auto industry. The district's auto industry, one of its economic pillars, accounted for 72.8 percent of the district's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2018.
