The intelligent new energy vehicle public research and development service platform was launched on Nov 27 in the Jiading sub-park of the National Science and Technology Park of Tongji University.

The platform, powered by the New Energy Vehicle Engineering Center of Tongji University, will focus on the research and development of key components and materials for new energy vehicles.

Thirty-nine sets of equipment have already been placed in the laboratory, including a battery charge and discharge test system, electrochemical testing equipment, and an ambient temperature analog thermostat.

“The properties of the battery are different at high and low temperatures. Therefore, we need to conduct a large number of experiments to find its service life at different temperatures and conditions,” said Jiang Bo, a doctor at the New Energy Vehicle Engineering Center of Tongji University.

According to authorities, the platform will make full use of Tongji University's resources and open its door to high-tech enterprises in the park in a bid to improve the efficiency of the university's experimental facilities and reduce R&D costs for enterprises.

"Many enterprises cannot afford research equipment, so the advanced equipment available at the service platform's laboratory will make research much easier and more accessible to them," said Sun Hongyan, an administrative officer at the park.
